Samsung has recently made an announcement about its plans to release a new version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in China during the current month. The forthcoming phone, which folds like a book, is anticipated to be a specialized version of their top-tier foldable phone, which was initially launched in India and other international markets back in July of 2025. Even though specific details are not yet available, it is rumored that the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 Special Edition is internally known as W26 and might include some minor enhancements. According to information on Samsung's Chinese website, a brand-new foldable smartphone will be unveiled in China on October 11th at 4 p.m. local time, which translates to 1:30 p.m. for those in India. The outline presented in the promotional image suggests a foldable phone in the Z-style, quite similar to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, and it is shown in a color combination of black and red, complemented by a gold-colored frame. While we are still awaiting confirmed specifications, there is speculation that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 Special Edition will be introduced as a more streamlined version of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and could also feature incremental improvements, possibly involving somewhat superior camera capabilities and larger screen sizes.

It's worth noting that Samsung previously launched the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition in China in the preceding year. This particular model featured a more slender and lighter design and showcased enhancements to both the camera technology and the display when compared to the standard model. For instance, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition was equipped with an 8-inch internal screen and a 6.5-inch external screen, whereas the standard model had a 6.3-inch external display and a 7.60-inch internal display. Furthermore, Samsung enhanced the main wide-angle camera to a 200-megapixel resolution, while the other camera lenses remained the same. SamMobile has reported that this rumored foldable phone is being referred to as W26 internally and is expected to be exclusively available in China. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition also had a limited introduction in the same geographical area, with projected production numbers of only four to five hundred thousand units, and the device is predicted to share the same internal components as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, incorporating the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, as much as 16GB of RAM, and a storage capacity that can reach 1TB, potentially launching with One UI 8.0 based on Android 16.

At the same time, Samsung is also preparing to introduce its tri-fold smartphone before the year's end. According to reports, it might be revealed during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, scheduled to take place in Gyeongju, South Korea, spanning from October 31st to November 1st.
