Indian Finance and Defense Minister Arun Jaitley invited Russian arms manufacturing companies through joint ventures to produce top-notch military platforms and weapons systems under the Prime Minister’s “Make in India” platform. "As India's largest, oldest and most trusted partner in defense hardware and equipment, Russia would have a comparative advantage in partnering with Indian companies for realizing the 'Make in India' potential in defense production," said Jaitley, addressing the "Technoprom-2017" conference in Novosibirsk while kicking off his three-day visit to Russia. Jaitley listed out the series of policy and procedural changed initiated by the ruling NDA government to boost India’s defense production sector. Indian Cricket Head Coach Anil Kumble Steps Down June 21, 2017 11:25

One of the finest Indian cricketers ever Anil Kumble today resigned from the role of Head Coach after a speculated feud with captain Virat Kohli, marking a bitter end to a highly successful tenure. "The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirms that Anil Kumble has withdrawn his services as the post of the Head Coach for the Senior India Men's team," said the BCCI in a statement. "While the Cricket Advisory Committee had endorsed an extension to his tenure as Head Coach, Anil Kumble has decided not to continue as the coach," read the statement further. The decision comes just two days after team India’s loss to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy finals in England. His one-year contract ended at the end of the Trophy, but the BCCI gave him an optional travel with the team to West Indies for “One Day International Series” (ODI) beginning on Friday. Kumble decided to stay back in London for the ICC ‘Annual Conference’ as he is the chairman of the Cricket Committee, while the players boarded the flight to West Indies. Hours after stepping down as the head coach, Kumble announced that he was "informed for the first time on Monday by the BCCI that the captain Virat Kohli had reservations with my style and about my continuing as head coach". He stated that the cricket advisory committee (CAC) that decides on who will be the coach had backed him for the position, Kumble said: "it was apparent the partnership with the captain was untenable, and I, therefore, believe it is best for me to move on". He confirmed the committee’s statement that backed him, "I am honored by the confidence reposed in me by the CAC, in asking me to continue as head coach." The BCCI was left not much choice other than accepting Kumble's resignation, given that the efforts of board officials, the CAC and the Committee of Administrators had failed to bridge the divide between Kohli and Kumble. The BCCI said that MV Sridhar will travel to the Caribbean to "supervise the team management", while batting coach Sanjay Bangar and fielding coach R Sridhar will continue in their roles. Indian cricket fans are now urging Virat Kohli to reveal his side of the story. The captain has not made any statements yet. AMandeep

Uber driver Ticketed For Not Being Able To Speak English June 20, 2017 13:30

An Uber driver in the South Florida has been given a hefty ticket for violating the county ordinance. A cell phone footage showed that Carmen Echevarria, has got a $250 ticket from a Miami-Dade Police officer outside the Miami International Airport. The Uber driver ticketed for not being able to speak English correctly. In the May 2016, Miami-Dade County has issued a memorandum with rules for the transportation network drivers, with one of the rules being "able to communicate in the English language." Miami-Dade Department of Transportation Public Relations Officer, Karla Damian has issued a statement attempting to clarify the rule issued in memorandum. A spokesman for the office of the Miami-Dade Mayor, Carlos Gimenez said that usually warnings are given instead of the citations. “It does seem like she could communicate in the English language and take directions so it's unfortunate that a fine was issued. The county can work with this driver and with Uber to address this situation," said the mayor's communications director, Mike Hernandez. In the last month, Florida Gov. Rick Scott has signed into law CS/HB 221, which overrides the local laws like the English requirement all across the state and also spells out the insurance and background check requirements for the ride-sharing companies. Uber spokesman Javi Correoso sent a statement, which said that the company is "proud of the diversity of driver partners in the South Florida market." Correoso went on and said that until statewide regulations go into the effect on July 1, Uber asks all the driver partners in the state to follow all the applicable local laws and regulations. The current language requirement for the drivers in Miami is not listed on the Uber website for the area. Correoso said that the memo law for the Miami-Dade County is "very vague and difficult to enforce" and also is not listed on their website because the drivers are asked to follow all the laws and regulations when they sign up. Correoso said that all paperwork given to drivers on applications is in English. He also said that some fines for the Uber drivers have been paid in the past by the company, but could not confirm if they would pay for the Echevarria's fine.
