Sanford PD gets new PIO Officer

The Sanford Police Department, which last year became one of the most maligned in the nation, has hired a new public information officer.

Shannon Cordingly, 32, of Saginaw, Mich., a former police dispatcher who trained for a time to become a highway patrol trooper, started this week.

She was one of 70 applicants and will be paid $55,085 a year.
