Amir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, marking his return to cinemas after a three-year hiatus, is gradually solidifying its box office presence. The film grossed Rs 59 crore over its opening weekend, starting with a modest Rs 10 crore on its first day. A notable increase in revenue was observed on its first Sunday (June 22), when it earned Rs 29 crore, bringing the total domestic box office earnings to Rs 59 crore. On Saturday (June 21), the film recorded Rs 20.2 crore, exactly double its opening day’s figures.

Strong critical acclaim and positive word-of-mouth have significantly contributed to its performance at the box office. The Hindi version of the film saw an occupancy rate of 57.83% on Sunday afternoon, which increased to 72.31% for the evening shows, while the late-night screenings had an occupancy of 46.97%. This marks a notable achievement, being the first film to start with approximately Rs 10.50 crore and then reach a Rs 60 crore weekend, signaling a promising outlook for its continued success.

Sitaare Zameen Par skillfully combines humor, emotional depth, and the invigorating spirit of a physically demanding sport to illustrate the resilience of the human spirit amid challenges—be they physical, mental, or societal. Aamir Khan, returning to the screen three years post the less successful Laal Singh Chadda, embodies the role of a hot-tempered individual who is often ridiculed for his height. In a moment of anger, he punches the head coach, resulting in his immediate suspension, and subsequent hardships take a toll on his pride.

Directed by RS Prasanna, the film features a talented cast, including Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh, Brijendra Kala, Dolly Ahluwalia, and ten debutant actors with neurodivergent backgrounds in crucial roles.
