
At least six people were shot, one fatally, in the shooting after an hour of a peace rally at a public housing community, Police in Alabama said.
The AL.com reported, according to the police, the shooting took place at 8:25 p.m. on Sunday at Gate City in Birmingham.
Birmingham police spokesman Sgt. Bryan Shelton said that all six victims were innocent bystanders. The condition of the other five victims was not immediately available.
Sgt. Bryan Shelton said that, "The events of tonight are disheartening and troubling." "More lives could have been lost tonight due to reckless actions. We are working with our community to bring all responsible parties to justice," Shelton said.
Police said that, the shootings took place about an after a peace rally ended in the community’s Lewis Park.
The shooting is investigating by the police, while the details about suspects and a motive were not immediately available.
