A Palm Bay couple has been accused of abusing their 6 and 7 years old.
Florida Department of Children and Families officials have removed the two brothers, ages 6 and 7 after the cops found their mother and a live-in man guilty of child abuse and child neglect.
Steven Jackson, 25, will be arraigned in court April 29. Carolyn Karsk, 28, will be arraigned later.
On investigating, cops found that Jackson reprimanded the 6-year-old by scalding his arm with a burning cigarette stub because he received a poor discipline report from school. Detectives said Karsk directed Jackson to burn the boy.
A Palm Bay detective and DCF official found that their home was infested with bugs and cockroaches, lacked electricity and hot water, and had inadequate food.
They entered the home by crawling through a window as there were no keys to the locked front door.
