IPL: Mumbai over powers Deccan

Scintillating performance between both the teams rocked the Vishakhapatnam Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy Cricket Stadium on Monday. Almost both the teams together made a score of 280 odd runs in the given 40 overs frame, to an average of almost 7 runs per over. Neither of the teams down played on the occasion and in the end the best won. It was a hilarious match on cards on Monday. The whole batting prowess provided wholesome entertainment to the fans who witnessed nearly sixteen sixes and 14 boundaries. That is almost five overs of wielding willows.

Getting down to the match details Deccan chargers led by Kumara Sangakara won the toss and elected to bat. They made a formidable score of 138 runs in 20 overs, after losing nine wickets. The bowling devastation was done by Munaf Patel who bagged four wickets aided by Lasith Malinga who claimed three for the Mumbai Indians. This bowling effort tossed the match in the Mumbai favor.  On the DC side the batting display was spearheaded by Shikhar Dhawan - 41 and Daniel Christian – 39.

The visitors Mumbai Indians went into bat with almost required run rate pegged at 7 per over approximately. The first two wickets fell for just over ten runs, pulling the panic trigger among fans. But then Rohit Sharma turned into an anchor and made a huge innings of 73 runs and remained not out. In the knock he sent the ball for four boundaries and five over the fences. Then Ambati Rayaudu gave him a short partnership and scored 19 runs. He was followed by Kevin Pollard, who also partnered with Sharma, and scored 24 runs.  In the end it was the bowlers who turned the match. Mumbai Indians won the match by five wickets, after scoring 142 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. (AarKay)
