Roger Binny is no longer the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, known as BCCI. Vice-president Rajeev Shukla is now serving as the interim leader until the next elections, as reported. Shukla will hold this position until the BCCI elections, which are expected to take place in September. In 2015, he was re-elected unanimously as the chairman of the IPL by the BCCI. On December 18, 2020, he was chosen unopposed to be the vice-president of the BCCI. Binny may remain president of BCCI if he wins the election next month. If he does not get elected, BCCI will appoint a new president after September. A meeting of the BCCI Apex Council occurred on Wednesday, where Shukla assumed the role of acting president, as indicated in a report by Dainik Jagran. The main topic during the meeting was the search for a new main sponsor for Team India, following the departure of Dream11 earlier this month. With the Asia Cup beginning on September 9, securing a new sponsor before the event poses a significant challenge.

"We have less than two weeks left. We are making efforts, but launching a new tender, completing legal steps, and managing technical issues will take time. Regarding a temporary sponsor for just the Asia Cup, we are not considering that option. Our priority is to find a sponsor for the next two and a half years leading up to the 2027 ODI World Cup in October-November," the report stated. Although the new National Sports Governance Act was approved by parliament earlier this month, BCCI still needs to hold its Annual General Meeting and elections in September based on the current rules, as the new bill will take four to five months to become effective. The BCCI operates under a constitution established after the Supreme Court's decision on the recommendations of the Lodha Committee. The report also indicated that if elections for the BCCI or any state association are pending, they will follow the existing regulations.

While the Lodha Committee recommendations set a maximum age of 70 for office-bearers, the new act permits those aged between 70 and 75 to run for office, provided that the bylaws and rules of their international governing body allow for this. The report further stated that office bearers must step down after completing nine years total or six consecutive years in their position. "If BCCI President Roger Binny must resign, then state associations will also have to follow the same rule," the report emphasized.
