Ladies, beware: Long Work Hours can kill you!

Ladies! Pay attention! A recent study warns that, women who work for more than 40 hours a week for 30 years are at an increased risk of getting cancer, diabetes and heart diseases.

According to the Ohio State University study, work weeks that averaged 60 hours or more over three decades, increased the risk of diabetes, heart trouble, arthritis and cancer for women three times.

Allard Dembe, professor of health services management and policy, and lead author of the study, said that, "Women, especially women who have to juggle multiple roles feel the effects of intensive work experiences and that can set the table for a variety of illnesses and disability."

"People don't think that much about how their early work experiences affect them down the road," he said. "Women in their 20s, 30s and 40s are setting themselves up for problems later in life."

The study includes nearly 7,500 people, who were part of the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth, found that men who put in long hours fare much better.
