With three instances of infiltration reported over the last  five days in Ladakh, China seems to be in no mood to weasel out. The Chinese aggression across the borders have just grown in the recent times.

Reportedly, the Chinese troopers trespassed the Line of Actual Control (LOC) on July 16, 17 and 20 and trudged two kilometers into the Chumar territory.

However, this isn't the only time Chinese troops have infiltrated Indian territory. Apparently, the foreign army has tried to overpass the 4,087km LAC over150 times in 2013. And the frequency has only increased after irruption in Daulat Beg Oldie in April, which lasted more than 20 days.

Following repeated intrusion, Indian Army chief Bikram Singh recently met defense minister AK Antony and national security adviser Shiv Shankar Menon to apprise them on Chinese penetration  at the LAC.

The recurrent aggression had raised a red flag on Indian security. In one of the last few inroads, the Chinese troops reportedly fled with Indian surveillance cameras installed by Army of India. The camera was only handed back after the issue was discussed during a flag meeting between the two armies.

Witnesses reveal that a patrol of around 20 Chinese soldiers rode into Chumar, carrying placards asking Indian military to abandon the “occupied territories”.

“Both sides conduct patrol up to their perception of the LAC. There was a face-off with the patrol. But after a usual banner drill between the two sides, both of them disengaged peacefully,” Army sources said.

India is likely to discuss this critical issue at the forthcoming flag meeting. China and India have been at loggerheads over some disputed areas in and around LAC.

The Chumar has been oft targeted by our neighboring troops as the Indian army has superior and more sophisticated defense set up there. And the newly constructed infra and bunkers over the “litigious” land have just vexed the Chinese even more.
