Fuel Prices Touch New High, Up for 16th Consequent Day

Fuel prices prevail to touch peaks for the 16th consequent day, with petrol being sold at Rs. 78.43 per litre in Delhi and Rs. 86.24 per litre in Mumbai. The outgo of diesel per litre has likewise been augmented to Rs. 69.31 per litre in Delhi and Rs. 73.19 per lite in Mumbai.

In the meantime, the Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) proclaimed its increase in prices of Compressed Natural Gas in Delhi and nearby areas as an outcome of recent inflation of dollar and alteration in proportions of domestic gas allotment.

The CNG has augmented by Rs. 1.36 per Kg in Delhi and Rs. 1.55 per Kg in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee is anticipated to protest against hike in fuel prices in the noon at Gandhi Murti, Kolkata.

Banerjee pointed out that, as the center has come under fire over hike in fuel price, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in the beginning assured public that government will shortly take out a solution to tackle the condition.

He further pointed out that inferior production of oil in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and hike in crude oil price in the international market are few of the factors affecting the fuel price.

In April, Pradhan said the Centre and State governments have been reckoning bring the petroleum products under the extent of Goods and Services Tax.
