Florida Braces Itself for Irma and Start Preparations For It

Communities in South Florida are preparing for Catastrophic effects of Irma. This is one of the most powerful Storms that Atlantic has even seen, it smashed Caribbean on it’s way to U.S Coast.

This Hurricane traveled through Puerto Rico is now making it’s way to Florida leaving a path of destruction. Officials in South Florida began to prepare for the potential landfall of record setting Hurricane.

Residents in parts of Miami metro area are under Mandatory orders to leave their homes as storm approaches with Potentially catastrophic winds. Florida Governor has urged people to evacuate if they are asked by the local officials.

The future path of Irma is still not clear, but projections show an increasing likelihood of it hitting South- Eastern Florida near Miami. Florida Governor has declared a state of emergency for all 67 of the state Counties.

Florida plans on asking 6000 National Guard members to report for duty on Friday, and has already called up 1000 members. Emergency respondents will have access to at least 13 helicopters and more than 1000 high water tactical vehicles.

Volunteers are ready to serve 35,000 meals a day following the storm. In nearby Broward County 43 shelters were opened that could give shelter to as many as 33,000 people. The potential life threatening winds are expected to hit Florida on Saturday.
