The Clearwater Beach of Florida named America's best beach in the TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Awards. It took the No. 1 spot in the list of top 10 beaches in the US.
Florida holds six of the top 10 beaches, including Siesta Beach at No. 3, St. Pete Beach at No. 4, Pensacola Beach at No. 7, St. Augustine Beach at No. 9 and Panama City Beach at No. 10. The state also landed four more beaches in the top 25, including Henderson Beach State Park in Destin, Las Olas Beach in Fort Lauderdale, Navarre Beach in the Panhandle and Fort Myers Beach.
Florida’s Clearwater Beach also ranked at No. 20. in the list of top 25 beaches in the world. It is the only beach from Florida to make that list.
According to TripAdvisor, the Clearwater Beach honored for its 21/2 miles of "powdery sand and calm, shallow water."
David Downing, executive director of Visit St. Pete-Clearwater, tourism agency of the Pinellas County, said while describing the beaches of the state, said that, "it really does validate what we already know that, our beaches are fabulous. To have them both recognized on this list is a huge feather in the cap for our destination."
